Dim the Lights
A change was made to keep me in place. I’ve been fighting the urge to run due to a sense of loyalty. A choice against my better judgment. It’s time to let go and give in to my nature.

Lingering
Haunted by the dead and buried; acceptance denied due to the absence of closure. Grasping at the tattered hem of a garment; faith-seeking answers. Time dictates the pace of suffering; peace is a forced state of mind.

2020
A sudden fracture within the norm gave way to an unexpected tragedy. A single infection shut down the world. Despite the unprecedented events, we sought peace and equality. Our reality is now planted in a virtual world. A King showed us the meaning of strength and commitment; a loss we cannot recover. Politicians forsaking the…

Smoke and Ash
I performed a ritual in the shadow of a new moon. A burning sacrifice to release the negativity. I doubted the outcome. In the wake of events, maybe I was wrong to have the disbelief.

Family Tied
Childhood memories are recounting the mind games parents played. Now we are old people unable to move on with our lives. I heard of my father’s health issues and my siblings, who are plotting his demise. There is nothing left for him to atone. He’s made his mistakes but he doesn’t deserve to die.

Ablaze
My flint ignited a moment, the smoke became ablaze. I kindled the hot embers;I’m enamored by the flames. Heat expected;Light desired. I’m not afraid of the fire,I’ve been burned so many times.

Disorder
Everything we see challenges everything we believe. We want to laugh; we often cry. Our stress comes in many forms, often misrepresented. The walk along the tight rope no longer has the safety net. Happiness is no longer the goal; a good night’s sleep is all we want. Some tell us to pray while others…

Daylight Ending
The experts say that the next few weeks will be our darkest moments yet-a disappointing prediction with all this mounting debt. I decided not to go to the pumpkin orchard; the mood was putrid and sullied. My neighbors were up all night, talking gibberish and yelling. We continue pushing toward solving the money problem, setbacks…

Closed for Business
The unforgettable aftermath;some warn it is not over. Here I am, lookingfor that second chance;all I see are the opportunitiesreserved for others. The sky is getting cloudy. My faith testedas I continue to knock. It is starting to rain. No one will answer;my mind despaired.I can no longer delaythe inevitable but thank youfor the prayers.

Repositioning
My journey is unexplained; there is no meaning.I have lost my place, my anchor detached. My dreams are crazy; no one understands.I have misplaced my sanity, my hope denied. My thoughts on paper; the words unread.I sent them in a bottle for my survival.

Written
The calligraphy etched in our skin tells a poignant story; the art we sometimes forget. Our pain is a moment and a memory. I caught a glimpse of the sky through the smoky haze; I miss the fresh air. Some do not recognize the sentiment; we have become lost in a forsaken environment.

Trials
Obstacles formed from the elements;crafted in the heat of chaos, poured upon sleepless thoughts. A mind ignores the pressures;a heart turns away from fear.
-
Disabled
My feelings are erratic; I find myself concerned and complacent with the unpredictable future. My cup remains empty; the dust of rejection is poisoning my sanity. A broken mirror cursed with shards. The tragedy of time cuts deeply; some wounds won’t heal.

Evaporation
Everything is changed. The vibrant colors have faded; the melody of music has dissipated. I think my mind has failed. Nothing is seen nor heard; my presence evaporated. The world is disappearing. Phantasms are fleeing this reality; perspective is gone.

Dehydrated
I’m very thirsty; those missed opportunities are future endeavors. My thoughts are unchanged; I struggle to collect my wits. My tongue anguishes for amusing speech. I wish I could manipulate time to change the fate of my deserted well that’s run dry. The temperature continues to stifle; my spirit is about to die.

Sweltering
It is sweltering, the temperature in triple digits. My depression rolls through like tumbleweed in this ghost town of ideas. The greenery of life razed by wildfires; I see lightning to the North. Good Lord, it’s hot. My problem is still unresolved. Somewhere there is a solution, an answer in plain sight. I imagine there…

Reign
The king promised a new world; his pale hordes claimed victory. We experienced a tragedy. He twisted the situation to make it fit his narrative—a plan to raise his scheme’s value. He has their family name, so his people accept his lies. Like moths to the flame, they will let him burn the world.
