I went to see the DC Studios film “Superman” this morning. It was written and directed by James Gunn and starred David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.
As expected, its comedic tones resembled those of a James Gunn film, and Corenswet’s portrayal of the character Superman felt straight out of Action Comics. Edi Gathegi’s performance as Mr. Terrific stole the show for me. His cynical humor worked well with the character and his interaction with Superman.
There were subtle and not-so-subtle political undertones, but there was not a solid storyline for me to connect with. However, the underlying message for me was that no matter what others choose for you, you choose the life and person you want to be.
Overall, it was fun to watch and I rate it 7.5 out of 10.
