It’s been a weird week of elevation.

On Monday, there were issues with the service elevators at my workplace. I finished work on the fourth floor and needed to go up to the fifth floor. After summoning an elevator, I entered, ready to press “5” to find the button already pressed to take me to the fifth floor. No one else was on the elevator.

On Thursday, there were more unusual incidents involving the service elevators. I took an elevator from the 13th floor to the 6th floor. The elevator suddenly stopped on the 12th floor and remained stationary. I pressed the button to open the doors, and then the elevator started moving again. It went down to the ninth floor before going to the sixth floor. No one was on the ninth floor to get on the elevator, so I got off and took the stairs to the sixth floor. Later in the afternoon, the elevator began selecting random floor numbers on its own.

On Friday, the elevators continued performing weirdly, so I decided to take the stairs. The doors to the stairwell on floors 4 and 5 were difficult to open due to heavy winds on the stairs. One thing to note is that there are no windows or openings to the outside. Where was the gale force coming from? Ten flights of stairs was quite the hike.
