On September 14, 2015, Kai Greene announced, via his YouTube channel, he is not competing in the 2015 Mr. Olympia. There has been a lot of speculation prior to this announcement due to the fact that Kai did not sign the Olympia contract nor was his image used in any of the Olympia promotions. In his own words, “I will not be allowed to compete…there is more going on than I am able to say.” Kai’s address to his fans was admirable and heart-breaking.
There is a lot of speculation on the internet as to why Kai is not competing. The main rumor circulating is Kai was more concerned with selling his new supplement line and wanted a booth for free. I don’t whether or not this is true and much of what is being reported at the moment, in my opinion, is hearsay. We all have goals, desires, issues, and demons; we have made mistakes in both the past and the present. For Kai, this seems to be the constant reflection staring back at him in the eyes of the Mr. Olympia and the body building business.
This situation is far from over and only time will tell its outcome.
