My job hosted another social event for the employees yesterday. It was a March Madness Basketball event, and everyone was “encouraged” to participate. A coworker walked to my desk so that I could follow him and others to the event. I followed him then I kept walking to my car.
I have yet to find a polite way to tell employers I am only there for the paycheck.
