Every year around this time since 2020, we have faced a life-changing situation and repeatedly slipped into survival mode. Like clockwork, another situation arrives. My mother-in-law has been diagnosed with cancer; before the diagnosis, she had been living with Alzheimer’s. Other things are going on in our lives right now, but that puts them in a different perspective. I lost my father to cancer five years ago, and we lost our good friend to cancer two years ago. It’s getting difficult to maintain a grip on emotions. This week, my wife, her sister, and her father will learn which treatment(s) the doctor proposes and decide on the next steps.
I drive a Honda Civic, and once upon a time, $20 would fill up my gas tank; last week, it cost that much to put 3 gallons in the same car.
I watched ‘The Boys’ season 5 episode 5, “One-Shots,” which is probably the best performance by Valorie Curry as Firecracker. The ‘Supernatural’ reunion of sorts in the episode was nice to see.
