Review: Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse

I watched the film, Spiderman into the Spiderverse.  This is a Miles Morales origin story that delves into the “great power…great responsibility” plot but from multiple perspectives.  Miles comes from a loving family that wants the best for him.  Unexpected situations force him to save his universe with the help of Spidermen from the multiverse.  Every hero experiences a loss, which is their motivation to do the right thing.  There were a ton of Easter eggs in the film, and the Stan Lee cameo was well executed and heartbreaking.

Everytime a new Spiderman was introduced, he or she would share their origin story.  This was a great way to update anyone in the audience who was not familiar with a particular character.  Using the Kingpin as the story’s antagonist was a good choice and his motivation for using the device that was destroying the multiverse was established well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film.  The characters chosen worked well and the animation effectively brought the comic pages to life.  They paid homage to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in a very emotional and respectful way.  It is one of my top favorite movies of 2018 and a must-see for all Spiderman fans.
