Desolation

The light burns quickly along the wick; the opening is barricaded from the weight of mistakes. Nothing left but whiskey mixed with the late afternoon; an earthquake is ignored.  The mind drained of thought; the belly emptied of concern. Waiting for the darkness.

Nodding off.
